  • Overview

    As part of the Security Operations Team at CIS, the Support Engineer or "Device Engineering Specialist" will support and contribute to the continual improvement and maintenance of the infrastructure used to monitor State, Local, Tribal and Territorial (SLTT) government networks.

    What You'll Do

    • Triage issues related to network security device monitoring
    • Field questions and customer requests received via phone and email to ensure all issues and open tickets are promptly responded to and completed in a timely manner
    • Act as a facilitator between a third-party vendor and the customer in order to troubleshoot technical problems, coordinate device maintenance and outages, as well as perform general device support activities
    • Actively work to enhance the processes and procedures used to support the efforts of the CIS Engineering Team
    • Develop and maintain custom code or scripts to support Engineering tasks
    • Perform basic troubleshooting of the CIS Albert infrastructure
    • Ensure CIS Albert inventory is properly accounted for
    • Effectively transition action items to SOC Analysts and other teams in order to support off-hours, device related work
    • On-Call availability to respond to critical support incidents
    • Other tasks and responsibilities as assigned

    What You'll Need

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field*
    • 1+ years’ experience as a Security or Network Administrator, or equivalent knowledge
    • Working knowledge of various security methodologies, processes, and technical security solutions (firewalls and intrusion detection systems)
    • Knowledge of TCP/IP protocols, network analysis and network/security applications
    • Excellent customer service skills
    • Candidate must be eligible to obtain National Security Clearance
    • Must be authorized to work in the United States

    *Additional years of relevant experience or a combination of an Associate’s degree or equivalent and relevant experience may be substituted for the Bachelor’s degree.


    It's a Plus if You Have:

    • Working knowledge of Unix Operating Systems
    • Experience with common scripting and programming languages such as Perl, Python, and Bash
    • Knowledge of IDS technologies (i.e. Suricata)
    • Knowledge of Agile methodologies
