  • Overview

    The Agile Coach champions our organization’s initiative to adopt an Agile mindset. You will work within our Agile Program Office, collaborating with teams at various levels of agile adoption, approaching their agile development with a servant-leader mindset. As our Agile Coach, you will encourage and coach these teams to improve their Agile practices, through direct coaching, as well as building and delivering workshops specific to various Agile practices.

     

    This position is an on-site role based in our Headquarters in the Albany, NY area.

    What You'll Do

    • Working with CIS functional and cross-functional teams:
      • Teach Agile values, principles, and practices.
      • Guide them through their journey of Agile adoption, including working with teams with no prior Agile experience.
      • Champion agile practices in a flexible manner that includes project management, and adapting to the specific needs of the organization (including hard deadlines / fixed dates at times).
      • Mentor and help them realize their mission and deliver on their initiatives.
      • Cultivate positive, team-centric dynamics and accountability.
      • Foster a trusting and safe environment without fear of blame, with an emphasis on collaborative problem-solving.
      • Facilitate root-cause analysis, problem-solving, and conflict resolution.
      • Evaluate Agile maturity and coach to higher levels of maturity at a pace that is sustainable and comfortable for the team and organization.
    • Develop and deliver educational workshops and classes that teach about Agile values, principles, and practices
    • Respond to staff questions and inquiries regarding Agile and Agile Program Office services
    • Embrace change and support teams that are called upon to adjust priorities and/or approaches as circumstances dictate
    • Other tasks and responsibilities as assigned

    What You'll Need

    • Bachelor’s degree in a related field*
    • Agile Coaching and Certification experience:
      • 3+ years’ coaching experience while possessing an ICAgile or Scrum Alliance Agile Team Coach certification, or
      • 3+ years certified Scrum Master & 1+ year coaching experience while possessing an ICAgile or Scrum Alliance Agile Team Coach certification
    • At least one certification in Lean, Kanban, or Scrum with commensurate practical experience
    • Demonstrated knowledge of servant leadership, facilitation, situational awareness, conflict resolution, continual improvement, empowerment, and increasing transparency
    • Demonstrated knowledge of and practical experience teaching teams in Agile approaches in a classroom or workshop setting
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and professional demeanor
    • Experience with enterprise task management tools (JIRA, Confluence, Service Desk) and/or Salesforce
    • Must be able to commute to our office in East Greenbush, NY (Albany, NY)
    • Must be authorized to work in the United States

    *Additional years of relevant experience or a combination of an Associate’s degree or equivalent and relevant experience may be substituted for the Bachelor’s degree.

     

    It's a Plus if You Have:

    • ICAgile or Scrum Alliance Agile Enterprise Coaching certification
    • Lean, Kanban, and Scrum certification
    • Experience working with teams with no prior Agile knowledge/experience
    • Project Management Certification a plus
    • Training from the Back of the Room certification
    • Previous experience in a senior position of responsibility
