The Senior Financial Analyst, Contract and Grants provides financial analysis and accounting support for government funding, reporting, and billing. The position is responsible for the financial requirements of the contract, including monthly program reporting, preparing drawdowns, reconciling to identify errors or discrepancies, ensuring expenses are allowable, time and effort reporting, maintaining an inventory listing for all Federally purchased equipment, and performing general ledger account analysis.

What You'll Do

  • Maintain and continuously improve tracking tools for compliance and reporting requirements 
  • Communicate monthly financial results with appropriate staff. Prepare budget versus actual analysis reports, and update the forecast for each project within the program
  • Participate in monthly and quarterly meetings with DHS informing them of financial results, and the status for the projects within the program
  • Assist leaderships with reviewing payroll entries and invoices and communicating account codes for proper project accounting
  • Develop, prepare, and finalize project and grant proposal budgets, and assist in the development and submission of CIS’ Indirect Cost Proposal
  • Resolve accounting and reporting issues as necessary
  • Other tasks and responsibilities as required

What You'll Need

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field*
  • 3+ years’ relevant experience
  • Experience managing reporting for federal Cooperative Agreements, Grants, and Contracts
  • In-depth understanding of Uniform Administrative Requirements, Cost Principles, and Audit Requirements for Federal Awards
  • Experience with the Schedule of Expenditure of Federal Awards (SEFA) and with Activity Based Costing (ABC)
  • Expert proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting software
  • Strong understanding and knowledge of GAAP
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • The position is open to U.S. citizens and requires a favorably adjudicated DHS Fitness Review for Public Trust Positions**
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States

It's a Plus if You Have:

  • Experience with QuickBooks preferred
  • 10+ years in accounting in support of government contracts and grants

*Additional years of relevant experience or a combination of an Associate’s degree or equivalent and relevant experience may be substituted for the Bachelor’s degree.
