CIS (Center for Internet Security) is the trusted guide to confidence in the connected world. CIS collaborates with the global security community to lead both government and private-sector entities to security solutions and resources. CIS is an independent, not-for-profit organization. 


The primary purpose of the Sr. Content Specialist position is to help support the CIS mission by creating and editing written content for the CIS website and other distribution channels. You will produce engaging long and short form content on cybersecurity and the CIS portfolio including blog posts, emails, case studies, white papers, social media posts, video scripts, advertisements, collateral, and other formats.


This position can be worked remotely and reports to the Content Marketing Manager.

What You'll Do

  • Responsible for writing and editing content for a variety of audiences and user personas, leveraging preapproved CIS messaging and style guide
  • Research and follow best practices for SEO, readability, open-rates, and conversion rates
  • Administer content creation tools and platforms for publishing
  • Act as liaison with outside vendor/partners to help with the creation, delivery, and implementation of various deliverables
  • Stay current with trends and best practices in the cybersecurity industry to identify relevant topics, fact-check, and analyze sources to generate compelling and contextualized content
  • Other tasks and responsibilities as assigned

What You'll Need

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Marketing, English, or related discipline*
  • Experience with copywriting related to software, technology or cybersecurity subject matter
  • 3+ years’ professional experience in business-to-business content creation, editing, and content development
  • 3+ years’ professional experience optimizing content for SEO for web publishing 
  • A solid understanding of product and brand positioning and writing effective marketing content
  • Ability to write within brand and editorial guidelines, messaging and positioning for different markets, products, offers and placements
  • Ability to pro-actively suggest creative ideas that keep CIS at the forefront of content marketing strategy
  • Ability to successfully coordinate multiple projects while meeting demanding deadlines
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational and time management skills
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States

It's a Plus if You Have:

  • Experience using content creation and publishing tools

*Additional years of relevant experience or a combination of an Associate’s degree or equivalent and relevant experience may be substituted for the Bachelor’s degree.
