The Assistant Counsel will partner with CIS team members to promote the CIS mission and help support our growth. The primary focus of this position is to provide legal support to the Sales and Business Services team.

What You'll Do

  • Provide legal support to CIS’s Sales and Business Services operations.
  • Draft, edit, and negotiate complex domestic and international contractual arrangements with private and government entities.
  • Work with various internal and external stakeholders and provide legal support for other parts of the organization as the need arises.
  • Conduct legal research as needed.
  • Perform other tasks and responsibilities as assigned.

What You'll Need

  • Juris Doctor Degree from accredited institution
  • 5+ years of experience as a practicing attorney
  • Active member of a state bar in good standing (and must register as an in-house counsel in New York)                                            
  • Strong commercial drafting skills for a variety of commercial contracts and agreements, including customer contracts, vendor contracts, purchase agreements, software licenses, purchase orders, and membership agreements
  • Must be able to handle a significant number of legal issues and negotiations simultaneously and prioritize competing demands
  • Must have a high level of personal integrity and accountability and a demonstrated level of maturity, discretion, and judgment
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States

It's a Plus if You have:

  • Prior in-house legal experience, preferably working with sales teams
  • Prior non-profit law experience
  • Prior experience with cybersecurity or technology industry
  • Prior experience with contract management software
