Senior Technical Director of Business Development - Remote

The Senior Technical Director – Business Development will serve in a key leadership role within the Business Development team in the Sales and Business Services Division and be responsible for identifying and assessing current and emerging cyber and cloud-based technology, mapping trends with supporting analysis and reporting on those that have significant impact for CIS’s customers, partners and members. The Senior Technical Director – Business Development will work to support the Business Development and Partner/Alliance teams to evaluate new opportunities from a market perspective, and will directly contribute analysis to assessment initiatives that impact strategies and technology roadmaps for CIS, its Partners/Alliances and members.

What You'll Do

  • Provide technical and strategic leadership and direction, mentoring, and coaching to  the Business Development team
  • Establish and maintain deep product knowledge and an understanding of the relationships between our products
  • Establish and maintain a deep knowledge of the cybersecurity industry
  • Discover innovative solutions leveraging existing products and services at the strategic and tactical levels (be able to think in terms of now, next, and beyond)
  • Partner with PM/PMM to drive strategic product and service innovation
  • Establish and maintain a holistic understanding of customer needs
  • Collaborate with Sales to identify and capture revenue/cross-sell/upsell opportunities for new and existing customers
  • Identify, understand, and discover solutions to complex customer problems
  • Keep abreast of technological developments in the market and contribute to identifying market trends and opportunities
  • Create and maintain relationships with key partners and members
  • Establish and maintain a relationship with the Office of the CTO
  • Understand market trends, market opportunities, and compliance by reading, attending webinars, and conferences delivered by Industry thought leaders such as Gartner, Forrester, IDC, and at industry conferences
  • Lead research, analysis, and collateral development for emerging tech and strategy activation initiatives related to emerging tech trends and market positioning
  • Author or otherwise contribute to CIS customer-facing publications such as whitepapers
  • Develop presentations and present to both internal and external audiences
  • Other tasks and responsibilities as assigned

What You'll Need

  • Bachelor degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Business or related field*
  • 5+ years in client relationship management, business development or related work
  • 5+ years as a senior or executive leader
  • 8+ years’ experience in cybersecurity
  • Experience in strategic planning, market mapping & analysis
  • Excellent client-facing and internal communication skills; ability to build collaboration at the enterprise level within CIS
  • Strong business and analytical acumen; ability to understand and drive mission objectives
  • Understanding of agile methodologies and best practices
  • Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multi-tasking skills
  • Ability to travel up to 20% of the time
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States

It's a Plus if You Have:

  • Technical Master’s degree (i.e. Computer Science, Computer Engineering) or equivalent experience
  • 8+ years of security and compliance experience
  • 5+ years of software development experience
  • 5+ years of software architecture experience 
  • Experience with standardization processes
  • Hands-on experience with AWS and/or Azure cloud environments

*Additional years of relevant experience or a combination of an Associate’s degree or equivalent and relevant experience may be substituted for the Bachelor’s degree.
