The Communications Specialist will be responsible for supporting the execution of communications strategies targeted to U.S. State, Local, Tribal and Territorial (SLTT) government organizations (ranging from K-12 public schools to election offices to state and local government agencies and offices) on various cybersecurity topics. This role will involve the development of creative content (e.g., white papers, blog posts, newsletter and digest entries, and other informational and promotional materials) centering on the value of the cybersecurity resources and services offered by CIS to the SLTT audience. 

What You'll Do

  • Create compelling content oriented toward a primary audience of U.S. State, Local, Tribal, and Territorial government organizations and supporting CIS goals of promoting cybersecurity best practices and resources among the organizational members of the Multi-State Information Sharing and Analysis Center (MS-ISAC) and the Elections Infrastructure Sharing and Analysis Center (EI-ISAC)
  • Research various industries and critical infrastructure communities in order to properly communicate the value of CIS and MS- and EI-ISAC offerings relative to SLTT organizations’ needs
  • Generate content (e.g., white papers, blog posts, newsletter and digest entries, and other informational and promotional materials) relevant to various industries and critical infrastructure communities
  • Develop substantive discussion summaries of MS- and EI-ISAC working group/community sessions
  • Coordination with CIS departments as required to collect information and develop products on relevant threats, vulnerabilities, tool/capability implementation, assessment insights, and peer/end-user best practices for critical infrastructure/community content production
  • Content production support to CIS Marketing and Communications team as required
  • Coordination with CIS Marketing and Communications, Stakeholder Engagement Operations, and other teams for placement of generated content in various mediums (ISAC Digest, CIS reports/publications, CIS website, social media, etc.)
  • Coordination with other departments as necessary to track metrics of placed content
  • Consultative support in the development of research and content curation capabilities
  • Other related tasks as assigned     

What You'll Need

  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, marketing, or a related communications discipline*
  • 3+ years of experience developing and executing communications strategies
  • Superior writing skills
  • Experience with creating informational or promotional materials
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States

 

It's a Plus if you have

 

  • Experience translating technical information into simplified content for broad appeal
  • Previous cybersecurity knowledge or interest
  • Familiarity with a content management platform (e.g., NewsCred/Welcome or similar)

 

*Additional years of relevant experience or a combination of an Associate’s degree or equivalent and relevant experience may be substituted for the Bachelor’s degree.
