Overview

The Director of Business Operations will serve in a leadership role within the Operations and Security Services (OSS) management team and will be responsible for business process improvement across the entire department. The director will identify opportunities for automation and increased efficiencies, develop and publish key measurements and metrics, develop written operating procedures and policies, coordinate with internal and external stakeholders, and analyze data and provide visualizations of data for decision makers.

What You'll Do

  • Provide leadership, vision, and direction for staff within division
  • Develop and maintain measures, metrics, and key performance indicators across the department
  • Develop and implement an OSS internal communication plan to best use meetings, electronic newsletters, podcasts, and other means to share information and drive effective collaboration
  • Identify, develop, publish, and maintain department policies, guidance, and standing procedures
  • Survey, recommend, and implement business process improvements across the department
  • Represent the OSS Executive Vice President (EVP) and Senior Vice President (SVP) in internal and external business meetings
  • Assist OSS division heads in identifying, developing, and implementing division level measures, metrics, key performance indicators, policies, guidance, and standing procedures
  • Collaborate with other CIS departments in support of joint goals and objectives
  • Coordinate procurement processes, material and resource allocation, and capacity planning
  • Assist the data and analytics team with creation and maintenance of business intelligence dashboards, providing visualization of key metrics and measures across the executive-level department and decision making
  • Other tasks and responsibilities as assigned

What You'll Need

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, management, data analytics, finance, or a related field*
  • 5+ years’ experience in business, finance, or similar support operations
  • 3+ years’ experience leading, supervising, coaching, and providing strategic direction to teams and/or individuals
  • Experience and expertise with business operations including:
    • Financial and budget management
    • Data analysis and visualization
    • Developing metrics, key performance indicators, key risk indicators, and other measures
    • Developing written policies, procedures, and work instructions
  • Excellent client-facing and internal communication skills
  • Strong business acumen and ability to understand and drive mission objectives
  • Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multi-tasking skills
  • Strong presentation capabilities with the ability to brief senior executives
  • The position is open to U.S. citizens and requires a favorably adjudicated DHS Fitness Review for Public Trust Positions**
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States

It's a plus if you have:

  • Experience with advanced functionality in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft PowerBI
  • MBA or similar advanced degree in a related business field
  • Experience working with federal, state, and local government
  • Experience with grant, contract, and cooperative agreement management

*Additional years of relevant experience or a combination of an Associate’s degree or equivalent and relevant experience may be substituted for the Bachelor’s degree.
