Overview

The Power BI Developer is a technical position within CIS’s Information Technology (IT) Department reporting to the Chief Data Officer. The Power BI Developer will architect and develop the department's Power BI ecosystem, including diagraming solutions, developing data flows and semantic data models, and administering the Power BI reporting and analytics environment. Additionally, the Power BI Developer must provide technical knowledge and skills to help grow the team, processes, and technologies in the department. The candidate must have experience connecting analytics with business value.

Salary Range: $80,900 - $122,500

What You'll Do

  • Translate high-level business requirements into data model designs (e.g., conceptual, logical, and physical), processes, and data assets that are well-defined, integrated, reusable, and trusted to empower analytics
  • Mentor technical developers in data architecture practices to propagate high-quality design, build, and processes to support the strategic data architecture direction
  • Assist and support the design, development, and implementation of data warehousing, reporting, and analytics solutions that deliver information efficiently, with the end goal to solve business challenges and achieve business objectives
  • Work alongside Senior Data Engineers to provide expertise in data modeling and database design
  • Architect and develop semantic data models, dataflow packages, and reports utilizing Power BI, applying best practices to the development lifecycle
  • Documentation of source-to-target mappings, data dictionaries, and database design
  • Identify areas of improvement to optimize data flows
  • Support business development efforts, such as proposals and presentations
  • Identify opportunities to add value to the company’s data landscape by effective use of information management
  • Build relationships with key stakeholders responsible for information and performance management
  • Other tasks and responsibilities as assigned

What You'll Need

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, data science, or a related field* 
  • 4+ years’ experience working with Power BI including DAX, Dataflows, PowerQuery, and APIs
  • 1+ years demonstrated experience collaborating with and successfully training other colleagues
  • Working SQL knowledge and experience working with relational databases
  • Experience building processes supporting data ingestion, transformation, and presentation
  • Experience in dimensional data modeling and schema design
  • Experience with consuming SaaS data via API’s 
  • Strong organizational skills including attention to detail and multi-tasking skills 
  • Solid requirements in gathering, business analysis, and documentation capabilities 
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States 

It's a plus if you have:

  • Sales and/or Salesforce experience
  • Experience with Fivetran or similar tool
  • Experience with dbt or similar tool

*Additional years of relevant experience or a combination of an Associate’s degree or equivalent and relevant experience may be substituted for the Bachelor’s degree
