Overview

The Network Architect is part of the Information Technology (IT) department, which resides on the IT Infrastructure team and reports to the Director of IT Services. As the Network Architect, you will be responsible for leading and architecting major network projects that have high impact while maintaining minimal down time. The Network Architect will ensure the security and configuration of our enterprise devices meet all required CIS standards, best practices, and approved levels of compliance.

 

This role will require working in-person from our Albany, NY office varying between one to five days per week. In-person support will be dependent on the needs of the IT team.

Salary Range: $101,500 - $177,600

What You'll Do

  • Full life-cycle network engineering: design, configuration, implementation, and management 
  • Maintain and architect all network infrastructure and ensure each infrastructure adheres to foundational best practices and compliance standards
  • Architect and implement enterprise network solutions 
  • Prevent, detect, and resolve security threats to the organization
  • Identify and drive improvements in infrastructure and system reliability, performance, monitoring, and overall stability of CIS systems
  • Ability to travel as needed between multiple CIS office locations
  • On call and after-hours support
  • Perform other duties as required including lifting objects of up to 50 lbs
  • Other tasks and responsibilities as assigned

What You'll Need

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field*
  • 7+ years’ experience as a Cisco network device administrator in a complex network environment maintaining and configuring Cisco next generation firewalls, routers, and switches
  • Cisco CCNP certification, Data Center preferred
  • Demonstrated experience maintaining and configuring Cisco ISE, ACI and Firepower platforms
  • Demonstrated experience designing and implementing Software Defined Networking (SDN) in AWS and Azure
  • Ability to interpret internal or external business needs and deliver technical solutions
  • Demonstrated experience in designing locals and wide area network routing schemas
  • Ability to solve complex problems and identify innovative solutions
  • Ability to shift between working independently and as part of a team
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Experience driving technical documentation for projects and environments
  • Experience working in a hybrid, multi-cloud environment
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and professional demeanor
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States

It's a Plus if You Have:

  • Experience leading functional teams and projects in a matrixed environment
  • Direct experience with best of breed monitoring, logging, and altering tools and solutions
  • Understanding of NIST 800-53 controls and frameworks
  • Knowledge of Windows and/or Linux server operating systems

*Additional years of relevant experience or a combination of an Associate’s degree or equivalent and relevant experience may be substituted for the Bachelor’s degree.
